There a generalization that x3 to x5 weekends in World of Tanks bring out bad players.

That’s not even the real problem IMO. It’s that so many players AFK or yolo suicide intentionally so that they can go back to the garage and queue-spam as many tanks as possible, to maximize the number of x5 bonuses earned.

The sad thing is such players hurt their team’s ability to win a battle, especially if the rest of their team is trying in good faith to win. Take for example this Empire’s Border battle: it was essentially 15v11, with 3 top-tier tanks in a platoon on their side AFK for selfish reasons.

    • +Taugrim Taugrim WoT has been having some issues with servers this weekend that i experienced myself. Had a game where I and over half of my team got kicked out of the game, and had to restart the game. Don’t know if that’s the case here or players just left the game. I know the chance for whole platoon to get disconnected is low but might wanna give them the benefit of the doubt because of the server problems.

    • Canadian Knucklehead

Had quite a few yolos and afks already this monring. Sucks!

    • Had to stop playing, never experienced so many 2-3-5 V 15 defeats. Multiple times only 1 or 2 tanks actually killed an enemy apart from myself.

    • +Taugrim No point in playing a match that has been rigged against you….especially when you are running boosters on a x5. The logical thing to do is just to quit and grind another tank in the mean time.

    • But why would a 2 marked deathstar and E5 afk? They’re in tier 10 tanks, wouldn’t that be useless?

  3. Should be punishable if it happens multiple times in a row, multiple times because it’s possible that someone disconnects for the whole battle

    • Agreed, but I doubt code has been implemented to check for consecutive AFKs.

    • tell me, if you are lets say an owner of a restaurant and you have one customer who smells bad but spends a lot of money. do you remove him/her from the restaurant only because 10 of other customers are complaining after spending only fraction what smelly customer spends? Wargaming can promise you the moon but will feed their base.

  4. I took world of tanks off of my computer. I hate what WG did to the game and the players.

    • Yep the game is no different than an iPhone game. Matches (perhaps RNG) are rigged to motivate players to buy premium, tanks, free xp, boosters, etc. That is their monetization business plan. It really is like Farmville.

    • First name Last name

      Ok c ya

  5. It’s so retarded to go AFK in top tier heavies in a corridor map… Probably a bunch of XVM snipers who saw low chances of winning, because I guess it’s hard to carry in a top tier…

  6. Only 3 AFKers? No team killers? You seem to be getting quite lucky.

  7. Animals time…

  8. Free damage lol. I almost feel bad for their arty.

  9. Idk how you can still have fun in this game Taugrim.

  10. Wow, AFKers are barely a thing in high tier games on EU but the average play level drops like hell during these events.
This weekend is truly special due to marathon and x5 events.
    Yesterday I started my session with 7 loses in a row… Seriously…

    • It’s not like triple platoon AFKs are that common, but the problem is we had AFKs on both sides in the battles I played today. It detracts from the experience meaningfully.

  11. I only yolosuicide if i’m a BS tank in +2. But not more when it’s 5x.

  12. Why do they AFK for a tier 10 tank???
I don’t get it. This is even worse in late night.

  13. I agree to your claim that these event can cause bad player behaviour like afk or yoloing. But statistically it makes no difference in regards to win rates as they are, statistically and on average, exactly as often in ur team as they are in ur opponet’s one

    • I don’t disagree that it doesn’t affect WRs, but it just creates a lame context when you have a triple top-tier platoon like that on your team. The chance to win nosedives.

  14. farmalicious. i’ve had the opposite problem, my teams are so f’ing bad and the enemy just yolo’s in.

  15. Just sad

  16. I know people are going to hate this opinion because a lot of free to play players do take advantage of 3x/5x weekends but I am all for doing away with them. With the new premium account changes they will be completely unnecessary. If anything give free to play players that functionality on the weekend because it only works on wins and they can apply it on their most important tanks. Won’t stop the yolos though, you could tell when a lot of people were on stage 8 of the marathon. I had a batchat yolo me in my t49 just to get two shots of damage and get killed.

    • I think they should get rid of 5x bonus and instead make an additional bonus that is merit-based (e.g. top 10 xp of the 15 people on your team).

      Problem solved.

    • +Taugrim I thought about that as well. However this marathon has shown me that you really don’t need to do a lot to be top 10. Sure it will get rid of the afkers benefiting from the win, but it will not get rid of the YOLO madness that also occurs.

If they gave people say five, 5x modifiers per day that they could apply at their own pace, it might encourage people to play the tanks that they want and try to do well in them. So if someone is trying to grind out the tier 9 batchat, they can play multiple games in it and they can then make up 40k on it. At any rate, if people did not do this and they just yoloed out like asshats, it would only be effective 5 times so it would get them off the server faster =)

Just my opinion on it, i think we can both agree that 5x weekends create a bad experience for everyone.

  17. Lmao fucking shitters man

  18. Well that answers my question. Whether to get online or not.

  19. Lol!!! hillarious! Nice farming!

  20. Its awful but I understand it. I am a 2k recent player and my WR last night was 43%. I could have arguably had the same success rate by doing the same thing those guys are doing, but with much less time wasted and frustration built. The hard reality is that on 5x weekends the game environment is so bad that skill is no longer a factor.

    • > hard reality is that on 5x weekends the game environment is so bad that skill is no longer a factor

I think it’s harder than usual on players who solo queue.

My platoon of 3 won 14 battles and lost only 3. I would say in a 5x weekend that platoons are more important than usual for winning, given the wild variances on the teams.

    • +Taugrim that’s fair. Unfortunately most of my clan is doing skirm/advances for silver for CW, so solo grinding is my life for the time being. 😜

    • +Taugrim I agree. But you need a platoon of strong players that can carry games if required. A regular platoon of the average players cannot normally affect a games win or loss once the balance is tipped.

  21. I played WITH that platoon earlier. FML

  22. So, basically just an ordinary day on the SEA server.

  23. Is this on the NA server as I’ve not come across anything this bad on EU1 or EU2
