the phoenix was meant to be shot from over 50km against big planes like bombers not 10km against a F-5. this is why it had a very long burn time, very high speed but not much turn rate.
It’s turn rate was more than 16g
the aim 54 was designed to target cruise missiles as well as bombers. if it can hit a target that small, im sure it’d have no problem hitting an f5

The G-6 gun elevates so high because its not a tank. The turret traverse is limited because its not a tank. Ground speed is limited because its not a tank.
