France’s tech tree doesn’t have a ton of heavy tanks, but the ARL 44 is surprisingly decent. The War Thunder devs buffed its AP round recently, making it a very potent tank hunter. It also looks a lot like a Tiger II, which is funny.

I found the ARL-44 pretty fun recently when I was plowing through France. Still hard to drive anything, but their lights though. And yes, France is always on German teams unfortunately. It’s why I’ve grown to dislike the faction as a whole just because of the sheer amount of oblivious players. It stops happening like 80% of the time about when the Leopard 2s start showing up.
Put all the armour in the back for running away.
Love this tank. Love maps with barricades. This thing is good at showing only its top part of the turret hiding behind a barricade. Truly a objective camper on some maps.
Perfect for shooting and protecting your crew when utilizing the barricades.

idk why but French solid-shot has always felt REALLY good, they pretty much always have T34 AP-shell levels of spalling.

This vehicle had one of the best buffs that gaijin could do, I remember that they lowered the br from 5.7 to 5.3, they changed the ammunition for a better one and now it pierces almost 250mm of penetration, before it was only about 215mm and they cut the firing time. reloading the cannon, before it used to take about 13 or 14 seconds and now around 10 seconds to reload.
The only bad thing about this vehicle is that it dies easily when it receives a shot in the turret cheeks, it always dies one-shotted, it cannot survive like a tiger or a panther.
Well would explain why in wotb the max Arl44 has the pen of a teir 8 while it a teir 6 with normal shells I think might also like the WT “heavy” Arl44
I wonder why this TD version is much more armored compare to the ACL-1 which is literally the same except for poor gun and turret
Not to mention it’s absolutely gigantic, if you’d put it right next to the KV2(which is probably the 3rd heaviest tank during the war) it’s like half of it’s height, remember the KV2 is like 10 feet tall °~°!

Common misconception about the ARL. The 5.3 one has the same exact hull armor as the 3.7 one. The gun has good penetration but no explosive filler. In general french tanks are the worst in the game out of all tech trees in my opinion.
